According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, a search warrant for the property was obtained after several months of complaints from neighbors and citizens regarding activity at the Nevada Street address.
When officers entered the home, they found Hitt hiding in a bedroom closet and Gowen was found in a second bedroom. A search of the house led to the discovery of a quantity of a crystalline substance, digital scales, glass smoking pipes with what was described as narcotics residue, multiple cell phones and other items associated with the disribution of illegal narcotics.
Hitt now has three active drug cases — one filed in November last year and two this year, one in March and the most recent one this month.
A civil suit has also been filed against Gowen seeking the forfeiture of a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The state can seek the forfeiture of money or property involved in drug cases.
