Donella Pace of Gassville appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was sentenced to five years in prison to be followed by 15 years probation after changing her plea to guilty on charges stemming from the theft of more than $300,000 from her long-time employer.

The 47-year-old Pace was charged after Mountain Home Police launched an investigation into the alleged theft in early May last year when the owner of a local pharmacy reported that Pace, who had worked for the business for 21 years, had been falsifying documents and time sheets since she assumed the position of office manager.

According to court records, Pace admitted to investigators that she had used the stolen funds to pay charges on a personal credit card. Investigators checked back from February 2015 until May of last year when Pace was fired from her job and discovered that during that period, slightly more than $300,000 had been paid to one credit card company alone.

In addition to the prison and probation time, Pace was ordered to pay almost $227,000 in restitution.
