Newsome wins Funtastic Big Bass Tournament

Several cash prizes were awarded Sunday at Oakland Marina as the Lake Norfork Bass Club held its annual Funtastic Big Bass Tournament on Bull Shoals Lake. Keith Newsome was the grand prize winner as his 4.71-pound largemouth ended up being the overall big bass.

Newsome’s biggest catch was during the 2:00 weigh-in. He also won the 9:00 weigh-in with a 2.52-pound largemouth and the 3:00 weigh-in with a 3.39-pound bass. Newsome’s total winnings were $1,300.

Six other $100 cash prizes were handed out for the winners of hourly weigh-ins. Kelsey Pickering won the first round at 2.62 pounds, Kelly Hurst was the 10:00 winner at 3.01, the 11:00 winner was Chris Cooley with a 2.25-pound fish, Taylor Crecelius took the noon weigh-in at 3.38 pounds, Josh Layton was the 1:00 winner at 3.44, and the final $100 went to Michael Rose with a 3.01-pound bass.

Another $320 was awarded to Buddy Collins. His 3.64 pound bass was the biggest for the optional smallmouth pot, and it was also the second biggest fish for the 2:00 weigh-in.
