A number of people were given prison time during a lengthy session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.Daryl Matthew Krueger of Mountain Home was given ten years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his entering a home located along Highway 5 South, taking keys and other property, stealing a truck and taking and using stolen credit/debit cards to make purchases at a gas station at Wal-Mart.

The victim reported he had been napping on November 19th last year, awoke about 2 p.m. and looked for his wallet so he could go shopping.

When he could not locate the wallet, the victim said he went to see if he had left it in his 2013 GMC Sierra crew cab pickup truck. He discovered that the truck was also missing along with keys to another vehicle and checkbook.

Investigators determined that Krueger had entered the home while the victim slept.

The stolen truck was equipped with OnStar and OnStar employees, using GPS technology, traced the truck to the Walmart parking lot in Mountain Home.

Walmart surveillance cameras captured images of a man identified as the 30-year-old Krueger inside the store and the Sheriff’s Office distributed the picture to the public. On Sunday, November 20th, the Sheriff’s Office received a citizen tip that a man matching a description of the person in the picture had been seen walking along U.S. Highway 62 B.

After the tip came in Corporal Kristopher Savino, with the Sheriff’s Office, was able to locate Krueger and take him into custody. Krueger was reported to have been wearing the same clothing as in the photograph taken at Walmart the day before.

Roger Benedict of Gassville was given seven years in prison after pleading guilty to drug-related charges.

The 59-year-old Benedict was arrested in April and May of last year. One arrest was made after Benedict sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant and the other arrest came as the result of a search of his residence in Gassville. The search warrant was obtained after police had made multiple controlled drug buys from Benedict at the address.

In the probable cause affidavit, investigators said that during one of the controlled buys, video evidence was obtained where Benedict could be seen weighing out quantities of methamphetamine.

Warren Steven Willette of Lakeview was sentenced to four years in prison after he pled guilty to passing bogus checks at a local business.

The 49-year-old Willette told investigators that a co-defendent was making the checks using a laptop computer and printer. Willette would then pass the fake checks. At one point, the pair had planned to purchase an automobile. They obtained a cashier’s check for $20 from a local bank and the co-defendant planned to make a “template” from the legitimate check and enter the $41,000 figure representing the purchase price of the automobile.

Willette told investigators that he lost his nerve and refused to go through with the plan.

In addition to the prison time, Willette was ordered to pay almost $1,500 in restitution.

Tyler Hutton of Salesville and Steve Niziol of Norfork were both given three years in prison in unrelated cases. Both the 24-year-old Hutton and the 29-year-old Niziol admitted they had violated the terms and conditions of their probation sentences handed down in earlier cases.
