A man is in custody of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department after a manhunt Thursday night. According to Sheriff Darrin Reed, the unidentified suspect was arrested around nine p.m. after authorities say he fired several shots into a home.

The suspect was wanted for questioning involving a shooting incident on Ozark County Road 615 by the state line on Highway 5. Sheriff Reed alleges the suspect got into an argument Thursday afternoon and fired up to nine shots into a home near Gainesville, and one of the bullets missed a child by two feet.

The manhunt began after the suspect was seen walking down County Road 615 and into the woods. The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas Department of Correction’s North Central Unit K9 Tracking Team from Calico Rock and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

An employee of the Ranch House on Highway 5 near the state line said she saw officers from both states, and the Baxter County helicopter had landed across the road to refuel. She added officers were stopping and searching cars leaving Ozark County on their way to Arkansas.

We’ll have more details as they become available.
