Two Helena-West Helena residents, 33-year-old Christopher O’’Neil and 27-year-old Lauren Baker suspected of stealing from a vehicle parked at a local convenience store over two months ago, were arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop in which an officer noticed their vehicle allegedly used in the incident. They were charged with felony theft of property and breaking or entering.

According to Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manual, on March 15, around 6:30 in the morning, police were dispatched to a report of theft of property from a vehicle. Items reported stolen were a purse, cell phones, wallet, cash, credit cards, debit cards, and other miscellaneous items.

Video of the parking lot provided a description of O’Neil and Baker, their vehicle, and the act of removing the purse. O’Neil allegedly noticed the victim’s front passenger window open, retrieved the purse and handed it to Baker.

During the investigation it was learned the victim’s stolen cards were used in Ava and a check was used in Springfield to make purchases.

After their arrest both O’Neil and Baker were turned over to investigators for further investigation. After being interviewed they were both booked into the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000 each.
