2 arrested in Marion County on drug charges

A Yellville man, 32-year-old Corey Cheever, and 33-year-old Katherine Thomas of Deer have been arrested by Marion County authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.

According to a press release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests stem from an officer making contact with Cheever on Tuesday on outstanding warrants. During Cheever’s arrest, an inventory was conducted on the vehicle he was driving. Suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded firearm were discovered in the search. Thomas was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of Cheever’s arrest.

Cheever was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, all felony counts. He was taken to the Marion County jail, with bond set at $25,500. He was released the same day.

Thomas was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, both felony counts. Her bond was set at $10,000, and she remains in the Marion County jail.

Both Cheever and Thomas will appear in circuit court.
