Smith enters plea in battery case

Sarah Lynn Smith of rural Mountain Home appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to charges stemming from an assault on a 73-year-old wheelchair-bound relative.

The 39-year-old Smith was ordered to reappear in court June 29th.

According to court records, Smith was involved in an altercation with the elderly relative during which the older woman was struck in the face three times. According to Sarah Smith’s father, his daughter had been drinking on the day of the incident and had been to his home several times “begging” him to provide her with more alcohol. She was given a portable breath test indicating a reading of .14 percent.

Sarah Smith, her father, and the victim live in separate residences along Elm Tree Lane. Sarah Smith faces a felony battery charge.
