Izard County drug sweep produces largest meth bust to date

Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey says a drug sweep last week has led to the largest meth bust ever in Izard County. According to Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley, members of the Izard county Sheriff’s Department, 16th Judicial Drug task Force, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish, Arkansas Department of Corrections and Independence County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at the Pineville residence of 68-year-old Lawrence Arden Parnell and 39-year-old Amos Louis Parnell. The search yielded over two pounds of the drug, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, digital scales and several loaded firearms. A stolen four wheeler and a boat valued at over $15,000 were also recovered during the search.Lawrence Parnell was charged with multiple felonies including trafficking methamphetamine, two drug paraphernalia charges, maintaining a drug premises, manufacturing of marijuana, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, felon in possession of firearm, and theft by receiving. He was released on a recognizance bond.

Amos Louis Parnell faces the same charges along with a felony charge for being a habitual offender, having been convicted of four or more. He is being held in the Izard County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
