The eight-day Innovative Readiness Training initiative that brought no-cost medical, dental, and optical care to North Central Arkansas in early June delivered services to 3,800 residents, according to information just released from the Delta Regional Authority and the U.S. Department of Defense. Mission sites were held in Mountain Home, Yellville, and Marshall.

The medical mission, two years in the making, was a partnership bringing the military and civilians together to allow reservists to complete their two weeks of annual training while providing the no-cost care. Medical reservists representing the Air Force, Army and Navy provided the medical care.

In the Delta News Round-up report, Delta Regional Authority says 1,300 pairs of prescription eyeglasses were delivered. The value of the no-cost care to the three communities was set at $675,000.

The Delta Regional Authority works to improve regional economic opportunity by helping to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of the 10 million people who reside in the 252 counties and parishes of the eight-state Delta region.
