Emery Leon Adcock’s stay in this area over the July 4th holiday last year, left a wake of vandalism and stolen equipment from boats and major damage done to a personal water craft. The 35-year-old Adcock, who lists an address in Paragould, was sentenced to four years in prison during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday after pleading no contest to the charges against him.

Adcock was ordered to pay restitution of almost $8,300 to one victim and almost $2,300 to another.

Vandalism and theft of equipment from boats at a local marine center were reported on July 5th last year and eventually tied to Adcock. According to investigative records, there were four boats involved.

Surveillance video at the business show a male subject wearing a red hoody and baseball cap with his face covered crawling under the cover of one of the boats. When he came out from under the cover, his face was exposed and the hat was missing.

The man on the video was identified as Adcock.

During the same holiday period, Adcock had been seen by guests at a local resort taking another person’s Jet Ski out for a spin on the lake.

Witnesses who reported seeing Adcock said he seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, according to investigative reports.

The owner of the 2001 Polaris Jet Ski said he had used it on July 3rd last year and parked it in a stall at the resort. The owner said he had filled it with fuel, but had not added the required lubricating oil. He said he planned to do that when he next used the personal watercraft.

When Adcock was seen taking the personal watercraft out of the dock, he was told that it belonged to someone else, but indicated he intended to ride it anyway.

The owner tried to start the Jet Ski on July 5th but could not get the engine to run. It was taken to a Bull Shoals repair shop where it was found that there was substantial damage done to the engine and the electrical system.

Investigators showed witnesses at the resort the video taken at the marine center and Adcock was eventually developed as the person they had seen taking the unauthorized spin on the personal watercraft. The video at the marine center also showed a truck that was identified by the people at the resort as one Adcock had been seen driving.
