The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged armed robbery. According to Sheriff John Montgomery, the robbery occurred Sunday evening around 11:30 near the entrance to Pigeon Creek Park.

The victim told responding deputies he was driving on Highway 201 North and came across a vehicle blocking the roadway at the Pigeon Creek bridge, and he got out of his car thinking the other motorist needed assistance. The victim alleges a man exited the other car and pointed a gun at him demanding cash, and the victim gave the gunman nine dollars which was all he had. A second man allegedly also exited the vehicle, approached the victim from behind and struck him in the back of the head knocking him to the ground. Both suspects returned to their vehicle and traveled northbound on Highway 201 toward Missouri. The victim was transported by a Baxter Regional Medical Center ambulance to the emergency room to be treated for his injuries.

The suspects’ vehicle is described as a red four-door Ford Escort or Geo Prizm with an Arkansas license plate. No other description of the vehicle or suspects is currently available.

Law enforcement agencies in Ozark and Howell Counties were alerted of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office at 870-425-7000 or their local law enforcement agency.
