Stephen Brown of Clarksville, charged with cutting another man with a knife during a fight, was in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.

On July 1st, Mountain Home police were called to a local business where a fight had broken out.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Brown was dropped off at the business, walked directly to the victim, the two began fighting and Brown allegedly pulled a large knife from his pocket and cut the victim over the eye.

During the struggle, the victim was able to gain control of the knife and an off-duty Izard County Deputy Sheriff who was at the business stepped in, broke up the fight and held both subjects until Mountain Home police arrived.

The individual who dropped Brown off at the business, told police that when Brown exited the vehicle, he grabbed the knife and shoved it into his back pocket.

Both Brown and the other man told police they had an ongoing argument about money.

Brown, who is an inmate in the Baxter County jail with bond set at $10,000, is charged with first degree battery. He was ordered to reappear in Circuit Court August 3rd.
