James Caple of Mountain Home made a first appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He entered a not guilty plea and was ordered to reappear in court August 10th.

On July 24th, a female contacted the Mountain Home Police Department to report that the 35-year-old Caple had been making threatening comments to her and she was in fear for her life. She said that Caple believed she was working with law enforcement and that he had sent her pictures showing him holding guns as well as a video of him shooting a gun.

On July 25th employees at a local tire shop called the police to report they had located a gun on their property. They told officers an unknown male approached two of the shop employees to say the gun was his and he wanted it back. The man fled the scene when the employees started to call 9-1-1.

The employees described the man, including the fact that he had tear drop tattoos around his eyes,
and Caple was eventually identified as the person who had asked for return of the gun.

Police also matched the gun found at the tire shop with one of the guns from the pictures the female had shown officers on July 24th.

As a convicted felon, Caple is not allowed to possess firearms. He also faces a parole violation from an earlier conviction.
