Motorists in Ozark County may experience some relief on the local roads. According to the Ozark County Times, the bridge on County Road 318 at Dawt has reopened after being washed away in the April 29th flood.

Eastern district commissioner Gary Collins says the rebuilding of the Dawt Bridge was a big job for Ozark County’s road and bridge workers. They started the job nearly two weeks ago after the water was down enough to give them access to the bridge, and the county also had to get a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers because the river flows into the Corps-managed Lake Norfork just below Dawt.

Collins also noted both sides of the county road on the west side of the Dawt Bridge are privately-owned land. The owner doesn’t want those floating the river to use his property as a take-out point for watercraft.
