A total of ten youth baseball teams from across the United States will gather in the Twin Lakes Area for one of the nation’s biggest tournaments. The Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old World Series gets underway Thursday at McClain Park in Mountain Home, and the host Blue Storm will wrap up the opening day by going up against Bismarck, North Dakota.

The day’s activities begin with a parade on Main Street at ten a.m. The opening ceremonies will be held at the park at 11:30 before the first game starts a half hour later. KTLO, Classic Hits 101.7 and 99.7 The Boot will have the Treasure Chest at the World Series Tailgate Party from 11 to 1.

The Babe Ruth World Series will be divided into two divisions — American and National. Teams will play a single round robin format against each team in their division Thursday through Monday. The top three teams in each division will advance to the single elimination bracket beginning Tuesday.

Mountain Home was granted an automatic bid to the World Series as the host team. The Blue Storm’s first opponent came in as the Midwest Plains regional champions. Bismarck defeated another North Dakota team, West Fargo, in the regional title game. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:00. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

The first game at noon will be between Eagle Pass, Texas, and Tri-Valley, California. Later, Jasper, Indiana, faces Keene, New Hampshire, at 2:30, and Tri-County takes on Tallahassee, Florida, at 5:30.
