Bismarck rallies in 7th to stun Mountain Home in World Series

The Mountain Home Blue Storm opened play in the Babe Ruth 13 Year Old World Series Thursday night with a devastating loss to Bismarck, North Dakota at McClain Family Park. Bismarck overcame a 3-0 deficit, coming up with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snag a 4-3 win.

Bismarck trailed 3-1 heading into their final at bat. Lucas Schell led off with a single, Carson Motschenbacher delivered a triple, Noah Riedinger had a pinch hit single to tie the game, Caden Fischer added a base hit then Luke Welk got a bunt down on a suicide squeeze that scored the winning run.

Mountain Home had taken the early 3-0 lead with an outburst in the first inning. Will Beckham led off with a walk, Trent Jordan reached on an error, Lawson Stockon delivered a triple to drive in a run and Brett Manes had an RBI ground out.

Nic Devine went all seven innings on the mound for Bismarck, allowing just two hits and one earned run to get the win.

Trent Jordan pitched well for the Blue Storm, going four and two thirds innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six.

In Thursday’s other games, Tallahassee, Florida, defeated Tri-County 18-2, Tri-Valley, California, topped Eagle Pass, Texas, 10-4, and Keene, New Hampshire, held off a comeback from Jasper, Indiana, to post the 9-8 decision.
