The Ozark Folklife Festival will take place Saturday at Tyler Bend from 10:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon. Everyone is invited to celebrate the heritage of the Ozarks as the event brings traditional Ozark artists and craftspeople together in the park for a day of musical performances and demonstrations. The bands Possum Juice, Harmony, Ozark Hellbenders, Rackensack Folklore, and Southern Tradition Bluegrass will perform throughout the day at the Tyler Bend Pavilion. Traditional clogging will be demonstrated by the Buffalo River Cloggers. There will also be a picking square where musicians and visitors can take part in some informal pickin’ and grinnin’.

Participants can learn about the way life used to be in the Ozarks in the mid-1800’s to early 1900’s. Demonstrations and displays in the Tyler Bend Picnic area include storytelling, old time children’s games, flint knapping, quilts, weaving, wool spinning, and a mandolin maker. The Searcy County Quilt Guild will be tying a quilt and visitors are invited to help to make the quilt ready for charity.

Traditional Ozark food will be served at the Tyler Bend Pavilion. Pulled pork sandwiches, beans, ham, cornbread and desserts including chocolate rolls, fried pies and ice cream will be available.
