LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP)   Authorities in Jefferson County have ruled drowning as the cause of death of a man whose body was found in a pond.

The sheriff’s office says the body of 29-year-old Shawn Miller was discovered by his aunt on Tuesday in an area south of Pine Bluff.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Miller had no visible injuries on his body. Jefferson County coroner Chad Kelley pronounced Miller dead at the scene.

Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr., a sheriff’s office spokesman, says investigators had classified Miller’s death as a homicide early on because being submerged in water may be a secondary rather than primary event.

His body was taken to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock, where the sheriff’s office says it was determined that he died of “drowning by natural death.”
