A Mountain Home man, 28-year-old Javis Curlee, who has been in the Baxter County Detention Center twice in the past few weeks, is back in jail on felony charges for a third time in less than a month. The newest set of charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons and possession of drug paraphernalia stem from a traffic stop by a Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputy early Monday morning. He is currently being held without bond.According to the arrest affidavit in the new case, Curlee was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for expired tags. The driver of the vehicle had a suspended license for a previous drug charge. After she was in custody Curlee was asked to step out of the vehicle and was searched. The deputy discovered a syringe in Curlee’s pocket and was placed under arrest. On the passenger seat where he was sitting a loaded .22 caliber long rifle was found. The affidavit says Curlee was convicted of a felony charge in Hawaii on November 22, 2011, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.

Curlee stood before Circuit Judge Gordon Webb August 31st on felony drug charges, was back in the Baxter County Detention Center September 5th charged with multiple felony offenses and again back in jail on similar charges later in September.

According to court records, aside from the latest charges, Curlee has a total of five open cases for which he is to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court. In those cases he faces eight felony counts and eight misdemeanor counts.
