Clint Young of Norfork, who spent a short time on the “Most Wanted” list maintained by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, entered a guilty plea to charges associated with his attempt to flee from officers with his wife and two young children in the car and was given six years probation.

The plea came during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Young’s charges included fleeing and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

In addition, the 40-year-old Young was reported to be thousands of dollars in arrears on court ordered child support payments at the time.

According to court records, a Baxter County Deputy Sheriff was on routine patrol along Highway 5 South on October 23rd last year when he saw a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer traveling north drift into the southbound lane of traffic while making a turn onto Wild Fern Road.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and reported instead of pulling over, the Trail Blazer picked up speed, went through fields, creeks and finally up a very steep hill. When the vehicle came to a stop after it became blocked by a tree line, the male driver bolted from the SUV and ran into the woods.

The deputy found a woman and two young children — ages 2 and 6 — still in the vehicle. The female said the man who had run into the woods was her husband, Clint Young. The woman said she had attempted to get him to stop several times while being chased by the deputy because of the youngsters in the car, but he refused since he had an active arrest warrant due to unpaid child support.
