Dawn Gowen of Mountain Home was given five years probation after pleading guilty to drug-related charges stemming from the search of a residence along Nevada Avenue in May during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Officers went to the home after receiving complaints over a period of several months regarding suspicious activity at the residence. The 52-year-old Gowen was arrested along with 49-year-old Tommy Hitt as a result of the search.

Hitt was found hiding in a closet in a back bedroom of the home.

During the search, officers found a quantity of a crystalline substance, digital scales, glass smoking pipes with what was described as narcotices residue, multiple cellphones and other items said to be associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics.

In addition to time on probation, Gowen forfeited a Ford pickup truck to the state.

Hitt was also charged as the result of the search. He has entered a not guilty plea and is scheduled to reappear in Circuit Court October 5th.

Gowen was sentenced under provisions of Act 531 which is similar to Act 346 in that it allows those convicted of certain “targeted offenses” to petition the court to have their record sealed, if they stay out of trouble during their probation period.
