Izard County boy’s golf team wins state title

The Izard County High School boy’s golf team has won the state championship. The Cougars won the Class 1A State Tournament played Tuesday at New Haven Golf Course in Texarkana.

The Cougars shot 263 to finish 16 strokes ahead of second place Concord.

Izard County’s Tyler Pemberton shot an 81 to finish second and earn All-State honors. Pemberton, along with Matthew Workman, who shot 90, and Zach Williams who fired a 92, qualify for the boy’s overall tournament.

Calico Rock’s Cole Whiteaker just missed qualifying for the overall tournament with a 93.
