A home visit in Gamaliel has led to the arrest of a parolee on drug and weapons charges.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says when investigators conducted the home visit Friday morning at 544 Fout Road in Gamaliel, 38-year-old Brandon Joe Vazquez was taken into custody after contraband was located during a search of the premises.

Investigators found approximately two grams of methamphetamine and various articles of drug paraphernalia at the residence, as well as a SKS semiautomatic rifle. As a convicted felon, Vazquez is prohibited by law from possessing firearms.

Vazquez was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine with purpose of delivery, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm by certain persons and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a parole violation.

Vazquz has a bond of $25,000 on the new charges, but is being held without bond for the parole violation. He is set to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court to answer to the charges later this month.   He has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center seven times since 2010.

A female, 32-year-old Tiffanie Cortez-Lynn, was also at the residence when investigators arrived. She was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for non-payment of fines and also a civil body attachment for not paying child support. She was also arrested and taken to the Detention Center.
