The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is partnering with the United States Department of Agriculture and the Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts this week to host a series of quail habitat workshops for landowners, and one of the workshops will be held in the Twin Lakes Area. The local workshop is scheduled for Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 in Mountain Home at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.
Through initiatives under the Working Lands for Wildlife partnership, several programs are available to provide landowners with tools to increase wildlife habitats on their properties without taking them out of production for agriculture and other land uses. These programs, combined with other Farm Bill products, can help offset costs of putting critical wildlife habitats back on the ground to support the comeback of the northern bobwhite.
The workshop’s presenters will provide an overview of available funding opportunities for landowners and cover basic quail biology, habitat management and Game and Fish’s quail habitat restoration program on public land.
Dinner will be provided for landowners registering in advance. To register or for more information, call 877-297-4331.
