3 Veterans Day ceremonies on tap for Saturday

Three Veterans Day ceremonies are scheduled in the area on Saturday.

Residents of the Twin Lakes Area are invited to celebrate Veterans Day Saturday morning at 11:00 on the Veterans Plaza on the west side of the Mountain Home courthouse square.

State Representative Trevor Drown of Russellville, a US Army Green Beret veteran, who served in Afghanistan and South Sudan, will be the featured speaker.

The event is sponsored by the North Central Arkansas Veterans Council and hosted this year by Alley-White American Legion Post 52. Alley-White ALA Unit 52 and numerous other local veterans’ organizations and their auxiliaries will participate in the ceremony. Saturday's event can be heard live on KTLO-FM 97.9 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Refreshments will be served at the VFW Hall immediately following the ceremony.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

At Cotter, a Veterans Day ceremony will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at city hall, 115 McLean Street.

In Izard County, State Representative Michelle Gray is the featured speaker at the Veterans Day ceremony in Melbourne. The event begins at 11:00 Saturday morning at the Melbourne Veterans Memorial and walking trail.
