Lady Bombers start basketball season Tuesday at Fayetteville

Basketball makes up the local Tuesday schedule as the Mountain Home High School girls will begin its season on the road. The Lady Bombers will head west to take on the Purple Dogs of Fayetteville.
Mountain Home is coming off a season in which they finished 19-13. The Lady Bombers finished the 2016 campaign at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy as they fell to the host team of the Class 6A State Tournament.
Mountain Home is facing the defending state champions from Class 7A, and head coach Dell Leonard says it’s a good way to prepare for what they’ll see later this season in district play.

Tip-off at Bulldog Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

In other high school basketball, Cotter travels to Mammoth Spring, Flippin hosts Viola, Bruno-Pyatt entertains Deer, Calico Rock makes the short trip to Brockwell to meet Izard County, St. Joe heads to Omaha, Marshall is home against Guy-Perkins, Timbo travels to Pleasant Plains to face Midland, Mountain View makes the trip to Southside Batesville, and Lead Hill heads to Mount Judea.

Mountain Home’s freshmen girls will be at Bentonville West High School in Centerton to begin tournament play. The Junior Lady Bombers will be paired with Heritage at 4:00 at Wolverine Arena.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Yellville-Summit travels to Salem, and Jasper hosts Alpena.
Mountain Home’s eighth grade boys will continue action in the Pirate Classic at Branson. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00.

In addition, the Mountain Home tennis programs will hold their postseason banquet at 6:30 in the high school cafeteria.
