Two Marion County residents were arrested Saturday afternoon on suspicion of stealing from a local residence. According to Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans, 52-year-old Robert Cobb of Yellville and 41-year-old Anthony Contreras of Summit are currently in the Marion County Jail Facility for residential burglary, three counts of breaking or entering, first-degree criminal mischief, theft of a firearm and theft of property. Bond for each suspect is set at $25,000.

Marion County deputies responded at approximately 3:20 Saturday to a residence reported to be burglarized. Their patrol cars were parked nearly 100 yards south of the residence because the north entrance gate was locked. Cobb and Contreras were allegedly dropped off at the north entrance unaware of deputies processing the scene. Cobb reportedly went to the front of the residence as Contreras went to the back, and that’s when they were confronted by law enforcement. Cobb was allegedly holding property belonging to the homeowner in his hands when he was confronted by a deputy.

Contreras also faces a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance. Both suspects are awaiting their first court appearance.
