Local McDonald’s owner, Andi Hilburn-Vaini, visited Nelson-Wilks-Herron on Friday and made a presentation to educator Cristy Neighbors of $500 towards the support of their yoga program. McDonald’s of Mountain Home offers Balanced, Active Lifestyle grants for school programs, like yoga, which encourage children to practice a healthy lifestyle.Over the next several weeks, local McDonald’s owners will continue to visit Ozarks area schools to present $500 checks towards program creation and continued education programs encouraging healthy choices and physical activity. The program allows for teachers, coaches and school officials to apply for needed funds to activate balanced, active lifestyle programs for children that would otherwise not be able to participate due to lack of funding.

2017 grants will provide several unique opportunities like a ping-pong club in Nixa, cooking club in Ozark, step clubs in Mountain Home, Branson and West Plains, as well as a student meals backpack program in Ava.
