Summit man gets two-year prison term in domestic battery case

A Summit man, 23-year-old Kenneth Godat, received a two-year prison sentence after entering a guilty plea in November, in Marion County Circuit Court, to a felony charge of domestic battery involving a then 17-week pregnant woman. According to CourtConnect records from the Administrative Office of the Courts, a second degree battery charge was negotiated to third degree. Godat was ordered to pay fines of just over $5,000.He is currently listed as an inmate at the Varner Unit in Gould.

His arrest follows an incident in August at a residence along Emanuel Street in Summit.

According to a statement taken at the scene, Godat was alleged to have slapped the pregnant female in the face and pushed her to the ground. Once the female was on the ground, Godat was alleged to have kicked her in the stomach. The female had scratches and bruises on both shoulders and a large abrasion and bruising to her right temple/face area.
