The monthly meeting of the Mountain Home School Board is scheduled for Thursday evening at 6:00. Among the items on the agenda is a recommendation to approve the six year District Facilities Master Plan. Superintendent of Mountain Home Public Schools, Dr. Jake Long, says the plan is compliance driven. It calls for a summary of planned capital projects across the district and includes renovations to the restrooms and the roof of Mountain Home Junior High. It also includes renovations to the Mountain Home Senior High building which, according to the plan, was built in 1966.Before the board meeting starts there will be a time for public comment, regarding the plan, to take place between 5:30 and 6:00.

The Board will also discuss a Bus Driver Incentives Pilot Program. Long says the challenge to attract and retain highly qualified individuals as bus drivers continues. The district would like to offer a pilot incentive program to recruit new and reward current drivers.

Under the proposal, beginning spring semester January 3, 2018, bus drivers who drive regular routes will be eligible for $100 bonuses for running 25 routes, 50 routes, 100 routes and 190 routes. Payments would be made in two installments tied to the third and fourth quarters.

If the incentive is successful the program would extend to cover both semesters beginning with the 2018-2019 school years.

Other items on the meeting’s agenda include a recommendation to purchase new hurdles for the track team and miscellaneous reports.
