Baxter County Collector Teresa Smith has announced she will be seeking a third term in the 2018 election cycle.

Smith says it is very rewarding and humbling serving all of Baxter County, the taxpayers and the taxing entities. Bringing up-to-date technology to the Collector’s Office to better serve Baxter County has been exciting and very beneficial to the office.

Smith says one of the main focuses of the office is collecting delinquent taxes. Having the new technology added this year in the Collector’s Office has   helped tremendously in the collecting of delinquent taxes dating back to the early 1990’s.

Smith was elected to the Continuing Education Board in the Collectors Association by her fellow collectors at the beginning of her second term. She says it has been an honor being elected by the other collectors and serving with the other board members in the Collector’s Association. Working towards improving the operation of the Collector’s Office and serving the county is the goal of the Continuing Education Board.

She is a native and a life-long resident of Baxter County. She is married to Monte, and they they have three children and two grandsons.

Smith is the daughter of Roy and Marilyn Stone.
