The Peitz Cancer Support House is announcing new opportunities for 2018. Cancer survivors and their loved ones are invited to attend any and all gatherings at the house.

The Journey Through Cancer group gatherings will meet on the second Tuesday of every month. The group provides beneficial information for anyone going through the cancer journey. The group will meet Tuesday at 9:00, 1:00 and 3:00, and the discussion will be about maintaining health and healthy snacks.

The Living with Advanced Cancer group meets at 11:00 on the second Thursday of every month. Its gatherings provide support and education to those dealing with advanced cancer.

The Coffee and Conversations with Family and Friends will be held at 9:00 on the second Wednesday morning of every month. The gathering will provide a place for family members and friends of patients to learn more about treatments, side effects and coping with a long-term illness. This week, the discussion will be about how individuals can maintain the health of themselves and their loved one while going through the cancer journey.

The Peitz Cancer Support House also offers free QuitSmart Tobacco Cessation classes to anyone in the community. Each participant receives two weeks of nicotine patches, an artificial cigarette and a relaxation CD. The program is facilitated by a certified registered nurse, and each course meets three times monthly. For specific dates and registration, go online to baxterregional.org.
