Baxter County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese has announced she intends to run for re-election in 2018. Currently serving her third term, Reese says much has been accomplished in the Clerk’s office over the past five years, including significant advancements in the use of technology.

According to Reese, making the transition from hand-written record books, court dockets, and accounting processes to a mostly computer-based, digital environment has significantly changed the way business is conducted, and has greatly improved access to the County’s records.

Reese says it has been an honor to serve the citizens of Baxter County as their County & Circuit Clerk, and respectfully asks for the community’s vote, and ongoing support.

In order to accomplish some of those advancements, Reese has applied for and received a total of $119,453.83 in grant funds for the benefit of Baxter County and the County and Circuit Clerk’s Office. Other accomplishments include implementing a jury reporting notification system, (the only system of its kind in the state), implementation of Contexte, the state’s Court Case Management System, as well as E-Recording of land records, and most recently, E-Filing of court records.

In addition to the accomplishments made on the local level, Reese currently serves as a District 1 Director in the Arkansas Circuit Clerks Association, which requires providing support and guidance to other Circuit Clerks throughout the district. She also serves on the Executive Board, the Legislative, Program, Scholarship, Membership, and Contexte User Group Committees of the Circuit Clerks Association.

In 2017, Reese was appointed by the Arkansas Supreme Court to serve on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness, the only Clerk on the Commission.
Reese holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from College of the Ozarks, and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She and her husband Tony have lived in Baxter County since 1991. They have two children, 21-year-old Easton and 13-year-old Kaiden.
