Brent Mitchell was selected from a field of three candidates Thursday to fill a vacancy on the Flippin School Board. The vacant seat on the board was created with the death of Steve Eastwold in December. Mitchell’s selection came during a brief special board meeting lasting about 10 minutes. The three candidates for the position had been interviewed last week by the other board members.

Superintendent Kelvin Hudson says Mitchell is a Flippin School District graduate and the Bull Shoals Fire Chief.

Mitchell was appointed to fill the seat until the next school board election in May. At that point, he can opt to run for the remainder of the time on the position set to expire in 2020.

The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting is set for January 22nd.
