Basketball dominates Thursday sports action

Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule.

The Dora High School boys will return to Mountain Grove to compete in the semifinals of the Family Pharmacy Panther Classic. The Falcons will take on Hartville at 7:30.

The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament will conclude its semifinal round at Izard County High School in Brockwell. The host Junior Cougars will tip off at 5 p.m. against Mountain View, Calico Rock’s senior girls face Melbourne at 6:15, and the Calico Rock senior boys meet Cave City at 7:30.

In other high school basketball, Cotter travels to Imboden to face Sloan-Hendrix, Bakersfield’s girls host Cabool, the Gainesville girls entertain Thayer, Mammoth Spring is home against Hillcrest, St. Joe hosts St. Paul, Marshall entertains Timbo, Mountain View makes the trip to Searcy to play Harding Academy, Rural Special heads to Pangburn, and Lead Hill travels to Western Grove.
On the junior varsity level, Viola’s boys are home against Greers Ferry West Side.

Mountain Home’s freshmen boys will return to the home floor as they take on West Plains. The game tips off at 5:00.  The junior girl’s game has been cancelled.
Mountain Home’s four other junior high teams will be on the road as they go up against Harrison. The seventh grade girls’ game begins at 4:00 to be followed by the seventh grade boys and both eighth grade contests.
In other junior high action, Yellville-Summit hosts Bergman, and Valley Springs makes the trip to Rose Bud.
