Chad McDaniel of rural Mountain Home, who is accused of threatening to kill family members with a gun, entered a guilty plea to the charges against him and was given four years in prison during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The 26-year-old McDaniel was arrested in late April last year when Baxter County deputies were called to a residence along Highway 62 east of Mountain Home where a man was said to be brandishing a weapon.

When deputies arrived in the area, they saw two women running down the road toward them. The women, one of whom is McDaniel’s wife, told deputies that McDaniel was armed with a pistol.

Deputies were able to locate and bring two small children to safety.

A search for McDaniel was launched on the property and he was found behind a shed at the rear of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

In the probable cause affidavit, McDaniel’s wife is said to have told deputies she would not testify against her husband or play any part in “getting him into trouble”.
