Bearden gets probation on drug charges

Richard Bearden, Jr., of Norfork was put on probation for four years after pleading guilty to drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The 42-year-old Bearden was arrested in early June last year after an Arkansas State Police trooper pulled him over. The trooper reported he knew Bearden had a suspended license and should not be driving.

During the stop, the trooper reported Bearden was "very nervous" and that his hands were shaking. The trooper said Bearden gave permission to search his vehicle and his person.

The trooper found what is described in the arrest report as a glass meth pipe wrapped in a purple rag as well as a small red case containing methamphetamine.

Bearden was sentenced under provisions of Act 346 meaning if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the court to have his record sealed.
