A Melbourne man, 36-year-old Jason Pendergrass, is being held in the Izard County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond charged with five felony counts of second degree sexual assault.
Online criminal information filed in connection with the case indicates a person commits sexual assault in the second degree if the person is 18 years of age or older and engages in sexual contact with another person who is less than 14 and not the person’s spouse.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Pendergrass is charged in connection with incidents involving two female juveniles ages 10 and 12. His arrest follows an investigation by the Arkansas State Police’s Crimes Against Children Division.
