Two members of the Mountain Home High School Band received high honors earlier this month at the All-State Band tryouts on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Bailey Ross was selected to the first All-State band and became the first student ever from Mountain Home High School selected to the first All-State jazz band with her alto saxaphone. Simon Podsiadlik was named to the third All-State band on the percussion.

Ross and Podsiadlik are in Hot Springs through Saturday performing in the All-State jazz and concert bands. The jazz concert was held Thursday at the Hot Springs Convention Center, and the concert band will take the stage on Saturday. The performers have also taken part in different clinics and visited various exhibits during the week.

The Mountain Home High School Band will have a fundraiser next week. The annual all-you-can-eat pancake supper will be Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00. Tickets are $5 each and are on sale at Mountain Home High School and from the band members. The jazz band will perform beginning at 5:00.
