The Mountain Home High School boys’ basketball team went down to the wire in their opener in the 6A-East Conference Tournament Saturday at Little Rock. The Bombers were edged out by Hall 49-48.

Mountain Home got off to a quick start as they built a 15-4 lead early in the second quarter, but that’s when the Warriors began their comeback they forced the Bombers into 22 turnovers for the game. Hall took a one-point lead into the halftime locker room, and they inched a little further away in the second half. Mountain Home mounted a comeback of their own late in the game. Luke Jackson hit a three inside the final minute. Talyn Benton added another long-range three to cut the margin to one, but there was less than five seconds left on the clock, and the Warriors were able to run out the clock without inbounding the ball since the Bombers were out of timeouts.

David Wehmeyer led Mountain Home with 11 points, and Colton Peters added ten. For Hall, Greg Johnson’s 27 points included him shooting 13-of-15 from the free throw line.

The Bombers fall to 12-15 on the season, and they’ll hostt Jacksonville Tuesday evening in an elimination game. Hall improves to 22-6, and they will head to Jonesboro for their game in the conference semifinals.
