A reckless driving complaint has led to the arrest of a Missouri man, 49-year-old Harry Lee Shaffer of Pomona.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says his office received a call Tuesday afternoon at approximately 12:34 reporting a reckless driver on State Highway 126 North in a maroon van. Sheriff’s Corporal Kristofer Savino was in the area and located the vehicle. He conducted a traffic stop on Baxter County Road 7, just off State Highway 126, of a vehicle driven by Shaffer.

After conducting an inquiry, it was determined Shaffer did not have a driver’s license or insurance on the vehicle. Drug paraphernalia was also in plain view. A subsequent search uncovered a small amount of methamphetamine, some hydrocodone pills, and articles of drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and on Shaffer’s person.

Shaffer was arrested and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he was booked on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, hydrocodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of careless driving, no driver’s license, no seat belt, no liability insurance and fictitious vehicle license.

Shaffer is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond and will appear in circuit court to answer to the charges.
