The Cotter Jr. High Quiz Bowl team is the new 2A State Champions after traveling to Maumelle for the state tournament of the Northwest-North Central Arkansas Governor’s Quiz Bowl Association (AGQBA). Team Captain Carlie Williams and Ethan Sexauer were both awarded All Tournament.
The Cotter Jr. High Quiz Bowl team also placed first at the Regional Tournament, February 2nd, with Carlie Williams and Jayden Hutchison earning All-tournament recognition. Williams earned that tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
In a series of questions, players must display their knowledge in literature, math, science, history, art, music and economics. Teams from across the state compete for the chance to represent the Natural State in national tournaments.
The AGQBA is an organization working for a competition that works under the umbrella of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). Academic competitions are regulated in much the same way as athletic events.
