Tommy Hitt of Clarkridge was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to a string of crimes taking place in 2016, 2017 and early this year.

The crimes ranged from possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, breaking into a garage and taking various items, breaking into a home from which he had recently been evicted as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The 49-year-old Hitt’s crime spree traces back to late November 2016.

In one incident, Hitt, and an accomplice, ran into an angry homeowner who lit into them and their vehicle with a baseball bat after he discovered they had broken into his garage.

The original entry and theft at the garage was reported about 1 a.m. January 10th. The homeowner told investigators he went to investigate a noise and caught Hitt and his accomplice in the act of taking items from his garage. The homeowner chased the pair but was unable to catch them.

The two thieves returned to the scene of the crime about an hour-and-a-half later and were again detected. The homeowner went outside and confronted the pair with the baseball bat. He managed to hit one of the men with the bat and struck the vehicle the pair was driving as well.

Hitt and his accomplice, Brandon Cooper, were eventually identified as suspects and arrested.

Cooper’s cases remain active in Circuit Court.
