FRC Team 16, also known as the Baxter Bomb Squad, is headed to the Midwest Regional at Chicago Wednesday. Practice begins Thursday and the qualification rounds start Friday. The elimination matches will be held Saturday.
Jackie Basinger, faculty sponsor, says the team has made several spare parts for the event, in the event a robot needs to make a pit stop for maintenance, and the team is ready to go.
With help from two teams in its alliance, the Bomb Squad finished as regional winners in the Arkansas Rock City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock in March.
The team’s robot, Stratofortress, has received the Quality Award for its design.
This year’s game is called FIRST Power Up. Two alliances of video game characters and their human operators are trapped in a video game. Teams use their robots to escape.

The Baxter Bomb Squad is a high school robotics team, from Mountain Home,
founded by Baxter Healthcare Corporation and Mountain Home Public Schools.
The world championships will be held on April 19th at George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
