Phillip Roy Wilcoxon, who has made a number of appearances in Baxter County Circuit Court through the years, pled guilty to the latest charges against him during a court session last Thursday and was given 10 years probation. An emotional Wilcoxon told the court he had gotten married and was in the process of changing his life for the better. Judge John Putman said the 41- year-old Wilcoxon was being given a chance to prove he’s changed and told him not to waste the opportunity.

One of the latest charges against Wilcoxon stemmed from an incident in August last year when the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office received a tip people were at an unoccupied, foreclosed home “robbing the place again.”

Sheriff’s deputies went to the scene and located a blue pickup truck with a trailer attached sitting in the driveway of the residence located along Hazel Drive.

The deputies observed several items in the bed of the truck and a riding lawn mower on the trailer. Deputies came into contact with three people, including Wilcoxon, at the scene. Wilcoxon is alleged to have told the deputies he had spoken to a neighbor and was told the house was abandoned and it was okay to take whatever items he wanted. The neighbor denied Wilcoxon’s statement.

In mid-May last year, he was arrested after police were tipped Wilcoxon, who is a registered sex offender, was staying off and on at an apartment complex in Mountain Home and not at the address he had provided to law enforcement as part of his registration requirements. He was also found to be in possession of a substance field testing positive for methamphetamine.

Wilcoxon is listed as a Level 2 sex offender. He was required to register after being convicted of two counts of rape in 1994.
