(AP) – Authorities say a driver fled from officers before
causing a fatal crash in Springfield.Police said in a news release that the pursuit started Tuesday after
detectives saw the driver hit a man pushing a shopping cart in a grocery store parking lot. Police say officers lost sight of the fleeing driver shortly before his car was involved in a four-vehicle crash in which another driver was killed.

Police identified the woman as 31-year-old Dana Nichole Sowards, of Nixa. The fleeing motorist was treated at a hospital and then booked into jail because he had an active warrant for his arrest.
No one else involved in the pileup was hurt. Police are trying to track down the man who was hit in the parking lot.
