(AP) _ A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the drive-by shooting death of a 2-year-old girl in Little Rock.Deshaun Rushing had been charged with capital murder in the 2016 killing of 2-year-old Ramiya Reed. But on Monday, Rushing pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of first-degree murder and avoided a potential life sentence.
Prosecutors say Ramiya’s mother identified Rushing as a suspect, and another defendant still awaits trial.
According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette , Rushing will be eligible for parole after 21 years.
A month after Ramiya’s killing, 3-year-old Acen King was killed in an apparent road-rage case in Little Rock. The alleged shooter in that case awaits trial.
