Two people have been arrested in Marion County following a traffic stop after an Arkansas State Police trooper observed drivers switching places in the vehicle.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the arrests came on the afternoon of April 24th after three people were observed entering a grocery in Summit. A male was driving the vehicle when it stopped at the business. When the three exited the store a short time later, a second male got behind the wheel.

The trooper followed the vehicle as it traveled south on State Highway 14 and observed a malfunctioning tail light. After initiating a traffic stop, the trooper asked the two men why they had switched positions in the vehicle upon exiting the store. The passenger advised the two had been tired and needed to switch positions. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Timothy Goodman of Yellville, had a suspended driver’s license, as did his passenger who had originally been behind the wheel. A passenger in the backseat, 37-year-old Amanda Strouse, was wanted on a warrant from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. An address for Strouse were not provided on the affidavit.

When asked if there were illegal items in the vehicle, Goodman told the trooper there was some “dope” in the driver’s side sun visor and a syringe in the center console. A substance believed to be methamphetamine was found in a pink candy wrapper in a clear plastic bag in the sun visor.

Goodman has been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as three misdemeanor offenses.

His bond was set at $5,000.
