March home sales in the area show mixed numbers

More homes were sold in March in Baxter and Marion counties than in February but the number is down from the same time frame in 2017. The Arkansas Realtors Association has released its monthly numbers and in March, 76 new and existing homes were sold in the two counties which is up from 49 sold in February but down from the 89 sold in the same month last year.

Year-to-date numbers show 189 residential units have sold in Baxter and Marion counties, compared to 204 through the first three months of 2017.

The average prices of homes in the two counties also showed mixed numbers. In March, the average price of homes sold was $127,551 which was up nearly 21 percent from last March’s average price of $105,587, but the number was lower than the previous month when the average selling price was $131,992.

In Fulton County, three homes sold in March compared to five in March of 2017. Two homes sold in Fulton County in February. The year-to-date numbers in Fulton County show a big decrease from last year. Seven homes have sold compared to 13 in the first three months of last year. The average price of a home in Fulton County was $165,666, down from $169,780 last year.

Izard County had big increases in the March numbers. Eight homes were sold compared to three in March of 2017 and two from February of this year. Year-to-date, 21 units have sold since January, compared to 22 from the first three months of last year. The average price of a sold home in Izard County in March was $81,262, just over a 14 percent increase from $70,985 last year.

Boone County had 72 homes sold in March compared to 84 last year. Sixty-nine homes sold in February in Boone County. Year to date, 201 units have sold compared to 203 last year. The average price of a sold home in Boone County in March was $122,790 compared to $101,405 last March.

Benton County, in the northwest corner of Arkansas, continues its trend of leading the state in sales. In March, 597 homes were sold, and over 100 more homes have been sold in Benton County this year than last year.
